We converted a spreadsheet that was being used to record data on individual vehicle fuel consumption and mileage into a web-based application.
The original spreadsheet requited significant changes every year to accommodate data for the new financial year as well as updates to graphs and other reports. There were also the usual issues with spreadsheets associated with controlling data validity and not being available to multiple users.
The system that we developed is a web based system able to be used by authorised users with an internet connection anywhere at any time. Some users can be authorised just to enter data while others can be authorised to view the reporting options.
Data validity is controlled and the production of graphs and reports is very simple. Fleet managers can use this system to monitor the fuel consumption of their fleets at either an individual vehicle level, by vehicle type or by depot location.
